PROFILE
In late 2008 a 17 year old Zac Steele produced his first hard trance tracks, convinced by close friends that he had something worth sharing Zac started his own production label ‘Sketchy Records’ as a way of distributing his music to the public. The label served as an important part of his early career and had a lot of success with releases such as ‘Nice one bruva’ and ‘The 88′ acid house movement’. By mid 2009 ‘Sketchy Records’ had built a strong following on the UK free party scene and subsequently Zac met and became associated with some of the scene’s top DJs, including; K4ne, DJ Octane and Ryan ASBO, helping to further promote his label and releases. In the summer of 2009 Zac produced the tracks ‘The cocaine capital’ and ‘Mr. Slidey’, these tracks would go on to become two of his most loved and well regarded to date. In late 2009, amazed at how much air time the new tracks were getting, Zac decided to take the opportunity to get them pressed to 12” vinyl, marking his first physical release, ‘SR001 – Zac Steele – The cocaine capital/Mr. Slidey’. This would be ‘Sketchy Records’ final release before its collapse in early 2010.
For the next few months Zac stop releasing tracks, instead concentrating most of his time perfecting his production skills and sharpening his sound. It was during at this time that he got the chance to play his first hour long set, at a club night presented by the legendary ‘Surge sound system’; this would be the first of several shows he would go on to play throughout 2010, earning him further credit as a live DJ as well as a producer.
By late 2010 Zac was back on fine form, releasing various tracks on ‘Project Storm’ as well as his massive remix of DJ octane’s track ‘Trancelation’ on ‘Unit One Recordings’. It was at this point the idea of a new label was discussed between Zac and his close friend Chris Parr. Together the pair began Transfixion Recordings releasing their first tracks in December 2010. ‘Transfixion’ have had huge success in recent months, with several top selling tracks to their name gaining them a huge following on the underground dance scene. Zac is Co-Owner/President at ‘Transfixion’ and continues to release through it and other labels.
